What is a good FFMI?

Research on drug-free bodybuilders found a normalized FFMI around 25 is rarely exceeded naturally, so 24–25 is treated as the practical ceiling. Values much above that are uncommon without performance-enhancing drugs, though it's a population pattern, not an absolute rule.

BMI uses your total weight; FFMI uses only your fat-free mass, so it rewards muscle instead of penalizing it. A muscular athlete can have a high, 'overweight' BMI but a perfectly healthy FFMI.
