Build a Day — plan a day of meals, check the five food groups
Students browse 1,072 real USDA recipes and pick a breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and dessert. The board shows which of the five food groups their day covers — the feedback loop is the lesson. Open Build a Day
They turn it in as a link (paste into any assignment box) or a printed one-pager with their name on it. No accounts, no emails, nothing stored on our servers.
Plan a Day with MyPlate
Use the recipe library at myplate.food/build-a-day to plan one full day of meals.
Open myplate.food/build-a-day (or the link your teacher posted).
Find yourself a breakfast, a lunch, a dinner, a snack, and a dessert — any recipe can go in any slot.
Check your food groups: does your day include fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy?
If a group is missing, swap a recipe until you cover all five.
Turn it in: copy your day's link into the assignment, or print your day and write your name on it.
The rest of the kit
Everything is one page, one link, and one print button away — nothing to install or license.
Food-group quizzes — Six multiple-choice quizzes with the original USDA questions.
Printable tip sheets — One-page "10 tips" handouts — vegetables, grains, budgets, and more.
1,072 USDA recipes — The preserved MyPlate Kitchen library students browse in class.
Teach in Spanish too
The kit is bilingual: Spanish printables include native Plato del Bien Comer and Jarra del Buen Beber sheets — made for Spanish class, ESL, and family newsletters.
Are the MyPlate worksheets and quizzes free to print?
Yes — every tip sheet, quiz, and activity here is free to print, copy, and hand out to a class. No license, account, or permission is needed.
Do my students need an account?
No. Build a Day, the quizzes, and the printables all work without any login, and we collect no student information. Students turn in Build a Day as a link or a printed sheet.
Does Build a Day work in Google Classroom or Teams?
Yes. Post the link as an assignment with the share buttons above — it opens right in the Classroom or Teams webview, and students paste their finished day's link into the submission box.
Is this the official USDA MyPlate site?
No — MyPlate.food is independent. It implements the USDA Dietary Guidelines and preserves the MyPlate Kitchen recipes and 10-Tips sheets that went offline when the USDA retired the MyPlate.gov website in 2026.
Classroom-safe: This page shows no ads, runs no session recording, and requires no login — no student personal information is collected.
